Springboard’s Summer School provides school and college leavers with the opportunity to secure a fast-track route to your first job or apprenticeship programme.

Springboard’s Summer School is a 3 week programme including expert, specialist careers advice and guidance, certificated short courses, a two week structured work placement and a guaranteed interview.

You will gain a practical insight into the huge variety of jobs, apprenticeships, and careers in the exciting world of hospitality, leisure and tourism as well as a real opportunity to secure your first job.

Assessment Day



Once you complete the application form you will be asked to attend the assessment day in the location you have specified.

It is compulsory to attend this day to ensure you are selected to take part in the programme.

The day will comprise of:

  • Interviews with employer placement providers
  • Careers information, advice and guidance
  • C.V. advice and interview techniques
  • Developing knowledge of the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry directly with employers

Pre-Placement Training



If you are successful through the interview process on the assessment day you will be notified and asked to start the pre-placement training.

The first week of Summer School comprises of taster experiences with the support of the employer placement providers and Springboard Ambassadors. These experiences will be applicable to the role you will undertake on placement.

The week will also provide a full insight into the hospitality industry and enable you to undertake short courses including:

  • Basic Food Safety
  • Health and Safety
  • World Host - customer service


There will also be further opportunities for careers information, advice and guidance.

Two week placement



Two weeks are spent undertaking your chosen placement role. During this period you will be provided with an in-depth insight into the Hospitality, leisure and tourism industry helping you to establish the possible career options available.

This placement will provide you with an opportunity to work with leading employers within the industry who follow the quality standard - INSPIRE.

Remember this is the opportunity to show the placement provider that you are ideal for the role! Show them how enthusiastic and keen you are to learn and develop in the role!

Post Placement



Springboard's Summer School provides an opportunity for placement employers to meet and employ you as well as the opportunity for you to fast track into your first job or apprenticeship scheme. Should this be successful for both parties the employer will discuss this with you directly at the end of your placement.

Should this not be the case you will be referred back to Springboard who will continue to support you into another opportunity.

Graduation Evening



When you complete the full three weeks of the programme you are invited to celebrate with fellow participants, employers, sponsors, teachers and parents.

These graduation evenings will provide the opportunity to collect certificates for the short courses undertaken.
